Weston-super-Mare Swimming Club

Established in 1880, and over the years,
has produced several Olympians and Internationals
in Swimming & Water Polo

Welcome to Weston-super-Mare Swimming Club. The coaching programme at the club provides comprehensive resources for young Swimmers who aspire to further their potential at Local, Regional, National and International levels; or alternatively to play water polo and get on the player pathway towards international representation.

The Swimming and Water Polo Squads are led by a team of highly motivated Coaches and support staff, with access to some of the best facilities in the local area for swimming and land conditioning; we endeavour to address the needs of our young athletes as they progress through all developmental stages of our Age Group and Youth Swimming Programmes.

Swimmers are encouraged to develop accountability for their own swimming, in doing this we foster growth, nurturing both talent and ability through hard work and resilience. Throughout the programme, we teach and help swimmers develop sound knowledge, understanding, and application of fundamental skills in training and racing that are necessary to enable each individual to gain the competitive edge required to take them to the next level.

We also have an active Masters Section for swimmers over the age of 18 years of age. It encompasses casual fitness swimming to competitive swimming. How far you go is up to you. The emphais is for fun.

The water polo section, consisting of senior, junior and mini water polo teams, is available to all club members, has a regular training schedule, and senior teams compete in the Bristol & West Water Polo League, as well as county and regional events. Water polo squad members are encouraged to take part in the swimming sessions, as well as the structured water polo-specific training including ball skills, tactics and shooting practice under a coaching structure led by the Head Water Polo Coach, together with supporting staff.
