Competitive Swimming and Water Polo

Competitive Swimming and Water Polo Training takes place at Hutton Moor Leisure Centre. For more details of the Pool Plan, Squads, Timetable, Movement Criteria and The Optimal Athlete Development Framework (OADF) information then click the 'Squads' link top left.

Swimmers, compete as a club in the Four Seasons Series of galas, along with other Somerset clubs, and there are individual galas and club meets that the swimmers enter throughout the year approx. every 4-6 weeks, as well as entering Somerset ASA's competitions, leading on to the South West Region and Nationals.

Water polo team play in the Bristol & West Water Polo League, competing all over the South West. They also play in a number of tournaments throughout the year.

Joining Procedures

There are three ways in which swimmers can join Weston-super-Mare Swimming Club. Either through our “Learn to Swim” program; as an already competent swimmer, by coming to a club trial or by joining our Water Polo squads. To join Weston-super-Mare as a Water Polo Player you must by the nature of the sport be able to swim.  If you are not a strong swimmer you will still be able to join the Water Polo Section but will be expected to train with the Swimming Club Competitive element to bring up your level of swimming and stamina.

The club also runs a mini water polo section, who meet on a Sunday evening, 5.30 pm-6.30 pm, at Hutton Moor Leisure Centre.

About Us

Weston-super-Mare Swimming Club was founded in 1880. They originally swam at the Baths which were situated on Knightstone Island, before transferring to Hutton Moor Leisure Centre in 1994.

 

 

Club Fees

2024 Membership Fees for Weston-super-Mare Swimming Club

Club Fees are payable for 12 months of the year.

** The amount varies by squad which reflects the amount of pool and coaching time available to members of these squads.

If, as a member, you are struggling to pay the fees for whatever reason, you can email the club secretary itemising the reason for difficulties, i.e.. you have been made redundant, etc. A meeting will be arranged by the club's Equality Committee, which will discuss the situation and make a decision.
